You can learn to fly at Waikerie Gliding Club, in South Australia. The Club can offer air experience flights or flight training. We can cater for low hour pilots, experienced glider pilots who want to make long cross country flights, and anyone between.
Air Experience FlightsAn Air Experience Flight is a good way to "try out" gliding. Of course, you can also treat it as a scenic ride - sit back and enjoy the peace and the magnificent panoramic views. Warning: these flights can start you on a journey for life! This flight is made as a 'Trial Instructional Flight' which allows you to try your hand at the controls if you wish. All flights are made with our qualified instructors. ...more info Sorry, but we cannot fly with passengers who weigh more than 110 kg. It's a limitation of many small aircraft, not just gliders. Two Day CoursesIn this busy world, few people can afford a 7 day break to sample something they are uncertain of. We would encourage you to initially try the 'Air Experience Flight'. This will put your mind at ease and allow you to take the next step. If you like the idea of gliding and enjoyed your 'Trial Flight', but you either don't have the time or aren't fully sold on the idea of taking a full learn to fly course, then the two day Introductory Course is for you. It is best completed over a weekend. What you get is two days being introduced to gliding and initial training in the basic skills of soaring. This is offered by arrangement with the Club. ...more info Learn to Fly CourseOur Learn to Fly Course is designed to take people through to flying solo. You would require between 25 to 40 flights in an intensive training course before reaching a standard suitable to fly solo. This may take six months or longer in a normal club situation where you fly only on weekends. This course will give you four flights per day. It also includes all briefings, a copy of the Basic Gliding Knowledge book and a pilot's logbook. All training is done in a modern fibreglass two seater sailplane with dual controls. Learning is done in a very structured environment, emphasizing hands-on training. This course is ideal for those who want to fly for enjoyment, as well as those who intend to make a career out of flying. It is relatively cheap in comparison to power flying, and the hours accumulated in gliding can be offset against the hours required for your power licence. This course is offered by arrangement with the Club. ...more info ![]() Justin Allison of London Immediate Post Solo CourseOnce you have achieved a solo standard of flying, we can help you gain the experience required to fly cross-country. Specialised courses at particular times through the year cater exclusively for pilots in this category. Minimum requirement is at least one solo flight . Basic Cross Country CourseOnce you have achieved your Australian 'C' certificate it is now time to open the door to cross country flight. This is a major step in gliding and literally the world becomes your oyster. This specialised course is run during the soaring season as numbers demand. ...more info Cross Country FlyingMany pilots enjoy cross country flight. We have the know how to get you there.
